There was a post a while back where someone commented in terrible terms about Nigeria.…
2016 is drawing to a close and as always I’m looking back at the year.
I can say the greatest thing to happen to me this year is my deeper relationship with God. And what I’m looking forward to in 2017 is walking even closer with Him.
I learned to trust Him a lot this year. A whole lot. It took a lot of challenges, a lot of unnecessary heartaches and struggles but God succeeded in getting through to me and now I’m learning to believe Him, arms wide open.
I’m not there 100% yet, not even close. But it’s very far from where I was in 2015.
The second most important thing I learned is – DO IT! Do it afraid, Do it without, Do it uncertain, Do it imperfectly but make sure you DO IT.
LagosHouseWife started this year with a clear first step but absolutely no idea what the second step will be. And even when the vague idea for the second step floated into my mind, it was met with – I can’t do it; it won’t work; I don’t have the things I need; I’m not a professional, not good enough; nobody will buy it. But my husband pushed me, harder than I had ever been pushed before and I did, with the fear and doubts and lack and management. And here I am today. Still no clear idea what the third step will be, still without many ‘needed’ things but I’m forging ahead.
Thirdly, there is no knowledge, no skill, no interest, no passion, no talent that is ever a waste. Everything is going to eventually find its use in your purpose. Believe me, I’m talking from experience right now.
See all those your mismatched gifts, you kaleidoscopic stash of talents that you have no idea what they will be useful for? Keep going with them. They are all skills given to you to execute your purpose. When the time comes, like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, they will all fit.
I’m a woman who loves God, loves family, talented in writing cooking and baking, crazy about kitchen gadgets and tech, skilled in research and ferreting out information, with a crazy sense of humour and a knack for speaking pidgin English, with a burning passion for women and family. And all those are somehow joining together to become one whole individual in LagosHouseWife.
So here’s what I’m getting at with all these ramblings – in 2017, three things will get you from where you are right now to where you should be
– Your Passion
– Your Talent
And those three depend on:
– What you know (Knowledge)
– What you do (Action)
May God hold your hand and lead you all the way in Jesus name.
Thank you for being a part of my 2016. See you at the top in 2017.
